Overview

Rutgers-Camden Law School
is proud to host:

Free Speech in Wartime

A two-day conference that delves into the effects of war on our First Amendment rights and related civil liberties. Inspired by University of Chicago Law School Professor Geoffrey Stone’s timely publication:

Perilous Times: Free Speech in Wartime from the Sedition Act of 1798 to the War on Terrorism

Join a group of the most noted free-speech scholars for:

  • panels on historical, contemporary and theoretical perspectives on free speech in wartime,
  • an interview with Professor Stone,
  • a special address on Dr. Martin Luther King, free speech and the Vietnam War in recognition of Martin Luther King Day,
  • a book signing session with the author.

Programs will be held at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia and just across the Delaware River at Rutgers University’s Camden Campus.

Registration is free.
Due to space limitations, advance registration is required.
